Due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Europe, Messe Frankfurt has decided to postpone Light + Building, the world’s largest trade fair for lighting and building-services technology. The event, originally set to take place in March, will now be held in the second half of September 2020. The decision was made with the full support of German partners as well as with the backing of partnering associations in Italy, which together with Germany and China has the greatest number of visitors to the show.
In a similar precautionary move, the organizers of the annual Salone del Mobile, the largest furniture fair in the world, have decided to postpone the event until June 2020. The decision, described by one leading designer as ‘inevitable’, was announced by the organizers following an emergency meeting. With more than 270 people having tested positive for the coronavirus thus far, the majority of which are concentrated in the Lombardy region, Italy is currently the most affected country in Europe.
While these decisions may at first look like setbacks, BROKIS has already shifted focus and is working on an alternative scheme for presenting its new products on its website, in its newsletter and, of course, on social media with the aim of adhering to the timelines originally set for the trade fairs. We will be providing you with more information as the plan develops, and we thank you for your understanding and patience.
